This page lists the questions my clients and partners ask me most often. Whether you are looking for details about my services or want to understand how a collaboration works, you will find clear and structured answers here.

General information and conditions

What information should I provide to request a quote via the contact form?

The more I know about your project, the better I can offer you effective collaboration and results perfectly tailored to your expectations.

To prepare a quote, the following information is essential:

  • the documents to be translated or proofread, or the instructions in the case of a writing project or other request,
  • the desired deadline,
  • your contact details,
  • any other information useful for the smooth running of the project: reference texts, available glossary, expected formats, source and target languages as well as the country variant, etc.

Don’t hesitate to share as many details as possible from the very first contact.

Are you respecting the confidentiality of data?

Yes, absolutely.

I adhere in every circumstance to the code of practice of a professional translator (an example on the Website of the SFT) and in particular to the principles of confidentiality.
I also implement strict procedures for the protection of personal data in order to guarantee the confidentiality of your information, data and content.

A confidentiality agreement (NDA) is signed before the start of any project. If external parties are involved at certain stages (revision, layout, etc.), they too are subject to this confidentiality agreement.

How much do you charge?

My rates depend on several factors, including:

  • nature of the service (translation, writing, editing, etc.)
  • type of document
  • volume (word count)
  • format
  • urgency of the project

I offer hourly or flat rates, with a minimum charge for small projects.

I will provide you with a detailed, clear and straightforward quote beforehand, including all the information about your project and the deliverables [contact].

What formats do you work with?

I work mainly with the following formats: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, InDesign and PDF. Other formats are also accepted upon request.

Scanned formats: these must be converted into computer-readable formats and often require an additional layout step before delivery. It is generally difficult to faithfully reproduce the original format in these conditions. Where possible, it is therefore preferable to work with original editable formats.

Is it possible to work with track changes?

Yes, and I highly recommend it! Track changes ensures transparent revision and facilitates the validation of corrections. I generally use this feature to ensure clear traceability of adjustments made.

How long does a translation take?

It depends on the type of project and its word count.

For your information, during weekdays, my standard turnaround time is three to four days for short documents (3-4 pages). For urgent projects, I can deliver within 24-48 hours for an additional charge, as long as it does not compromise quality.

Contact me to receive a precise estimate of the delivery time.

What is the difference between revision and proofreading?

Proofreading consists of correcting spelling mistakes, typos, grammatical and typographical errors. It is generally carried out without referring to the original document and without modifying the conveyed message.

Revision (or comparative revision) is more comprehensive: it is based on the original document and examines the fidelity of the translation as a whole. It addresses the adherence to terminology, the style, the consistency, the compliance to instructions and reference materials.

I provide both proofreading and revision services, either as part of my quality control process or as an independent project.

How do you calculate the number of words in a document?

The word count is calculated using precise statistics generated by Word or professional translation tools.

Do you use artificial intelligence for translation?

It depends on your needs and constraints.

To ensure the confidentiality of your texts, I use a conventional translation tool, without AI. This software helps maintain terminological consistency and the overall quality of a translation while optimising costs (for example, by reusing content that has already been translated). However, this is not machine translation: the translation remains entirely human.

If your texts are not confidential, we can consider using an AI-assisted machine translation tool. AI provides suggestions and can be used as an aid to research, reformulation or linguistic correction. Here too, the translation remains entirely human.

Note: not all texts are suitable for the use of AI. Furthermore, the reflective work of the professional translator remains essential, and the time saved is not systematic.

Do you use artificial intelligence for writing?

As with translation, I occasionally use certain AI-based tools for research, reformulation or linguistic correction. Naturally, I respect your data protection and confidentiality requirements and will not disclose any text to any AI. The texts I produce are written entirely by me, based on your content, objectives and context.

How long does a writing project take?

Medical writing is a process that involves several steps: data collection and review, drafting an outline, writing, internal compliance review and editorial validation cycles. Depending on the nature of the project and the level of collaboration required, this work can extend over several days or weeks.

Send me your request today and I’ll send you a commercial proposal with a realistic deadline tailored to your project.
