My decade-long background in the pharmaceutical industry and the translation industry means I am perfectly prepared for all kinds of medical documents sent my way. I know the industry inside-out. I am truly specialised in the pharmaceutical and medical translation field and have extensive knowledge of guidelines, terminology, particularities, etc. This specialised knowledge enables me to use accurate and consistent terminology while maintaining an appropriate register for your audience and thus ensure the validity of your translations. CAT stands for Computer Assisted Translation. A CAT tool is a software that supports the human translator in maintaining the consistency and overall quality of a translation. It moreover helps minimizing translation costs, for example by enabling to re-use already translated content. But it still requires a human translator – it is not machine translation!

I use a CAT tool called SDL Trados Studio, which is one of the most used and advanced tools on the market.

After completing the first draft of your translation, I systematically peruse the text until I am fully satisfied with it, checking among others for linguistic inconsistencies, style issues, lack of clarity and lack of French-ness or non-compliance with specifications. However, even experts overlook minor errors, which is why it is imperative to proofread or revise a text before finalisation.

Depending on the agreement, your documents can therefore be reviewed by another linguist to further ensure 100% accuracy. I highly recommend this additional review if the material is to be published.

A very last proofreading step can be as well necessary before publishing or printing your documents to eliminate errors potentially introduced during DTP steps and that would have a negative impact on your image.

I systematically perform quality tests after completing each step of the translation process and before delivery to eliminate simple errors like grammatical errors, typos, missing parts, wrong measures, non-localized date formats, etc., and make sure that everything from formatting to tone of voice is flawless.
